OK, folks, back to ol’ MD again. After Erik’s wonderful guest week, I feel fit for the beach season – perceiving myself as slimmer than ever. No wonder, with Erik doing his acrobatic jumps all over the place, I feel professorially narrow…
Thanks a lot, Erik! It’s been great fun and thought-provoking, and I’ve noticed that you brought forth many new active blog followers, which makes me really happy!

Thank you MD! It’s a consultant’s prerogative to jump around. I look forward to your more focused perspective.
By the way, my final post was going to be about this study: http://www.uic.edu/htbin/cgiwrap/bin/ojs/index.php/fm/article/view/2498/2181
One Facebook-using professor named Eszter Hargittai thought the data of the study you referred to looked fishy, so together with some other people they analyzed a larger sample size than the original study did, and found no correlation at all between Facebook use and G.P.A.
Here’s what the original study’s author, Aryn C. Karpinski, told the Chronicle of Higher Education: “I completely acknowledge the limitations of my research. What I found is so exploratory — people need to chill out.”
