OK. So a lot of crazy nextopia things have happened while I was cocooning or something. Have a lot of catching up to do.
Since August, I’ve been mentioning Voddler rather frequently in my talks. It’s fascinating to note how few people knew what I was talking about then, and how it’s become the thing in only two months. From zero to most popular movie distributor in microseconds. Love child of the Expectations society, of course its demand curve is perfectly nextopian. Still not launched, a hundred thousand or so people have signed up to receive invites, invites that are auctioned out online at over 200 dollars a pop.
In the words of Austin Powers, yeah, baby, yeah!
Dear diary,
Sorry I haven’t written anything for so long. My summer has been crazy. I’ve been all over the world, talking to anyone, anywhere, in any and all kinds of settings. Some of the invites I’ve gotten, I had to double-check as I could not believe them to be true. Some of them, like the British government and a Japanese monestary, I can tell you about, others I don’t even dare. And they keep pouring in. Somehow, the nextopia hype has managed to linger quite long and spread to places I could not imagine. So, I’ve been a bit busy.
But I am blessed with very kind people who keep reminding me about this blog. I haven’t posted for so long now. I think the reasons are 1) that I’m rather preoccupied with my next (best ever!) project, which I cannot tell you about yet, it’s just too strange, and 2) that I’m afraid to write things that are not well enough thought through.
But I’ll try it anyway. We’ll just give 1 a rest, and not let 2 bother us too much. After all, that’s communication in the Expectations society – not perfect, not overanalyzed, not the final answer. Just right here, right now, from the tip of my tongue to the tips of my fingers.
Talk to you tomorrow.
